Governance & Management

Four major constituents will play a key role in ensuring effective governance and management of NABIC.

General Assembly

In lieu of traditional shareholders, the members of NABIC drives the agenda of the organization and provide long term vision and mandate. The general assembly elects the Board of Directors and entrust it with fulfilling the mandate of the general assembly.

Board of Directors

NABIC’s founding board is currently being reconstituted. The five member board will draw representation of various stakeholder groups. The Board will be chaired by a non-executive Chairperson.

Strategic Advisory Committee

A high level committee will provide strategic inputs and guidance to the NABIC Board. This committee will comprise members with multi-disciplinary and diverse professional backgrounds and experience.

Management

The Board of Directors delegates authority for day to day running of the NABIC to a professional CEO. The organisation will be run with a lean management structure with a few key professional staff and support staff. Extensive use will be made of mentors and expert consultants.

The Project for Agriculture Commercialization and Trade (PACT) under the Ministry of Agriculture Development (MoAD), Government of Nepal and the World Bank have provided funding and support to establish NABIC. NABIC is technically supported by the infoDev initiative at the World Bank.

NABIC is managed by Practical Action Consulting, UK in partnership with Kathmandu University School of Management.
